About Us

Located in the rear, lower level of Hilltop Plaza (across from Orleans Bowling Center). The Nauset Model Railroad Club, founded in 1989, today has some 90 members and 2,500 square-feet of working layouts in five different sizes (G, O, S, HO and N gauges). It is home to the UNION FREIGHT Railroad, built by the late John Pryke, featured in many MODEL RAILROADER magazine articles and a book about modeling urban scenery.

The Club operates during annual Open House events over the summer (6-8 p.m. on Wednesdays in July and August) and at year-end (1-4 p.m. Saturdays from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day). Also, it holds work sessions on Fridays, 7-9 p.m., year-around. Part of its mission is to grow awareness of, and interest in, model railroading within the community, so visitors are welcome during any of these times. ADMISSION AND PARKING ARE FREE.

Members (some are authors of books and magazine articles on prototype and model railroading) are always happy to answer questions, share their knowledge and provide encouragement to other modelers. Visitors receive an educational brochure that provides a history of each gauge and describes the club's layouts and their features. come visit and see the trains run -- fun for the whole family!
