The quality of Cape Cod's freshwater ponds and lakes is considered to be very good. Nonetheless, over the past 15 years, there has been a trend toward degradation. Several organizations have been collecting data and studying this trend to pinpoint causes of this decline and to identify remedies that have been put in place, and/or are being considered for future remediation. The Orleans Citizens Forum will be exploring these efforts at its March 27 Forum on Freshwater Quality on the Cape and, in Orleans, in particular.
Panelists will include Heather McElroy, Natural Resources Program Manager and Tara Nye Lewis, Water Resources Analyst for the Cape Cod Commission, Eric Spengler, Chair of the Orleans Pond Coalition, and Rich Levy, President of the Orleans Marine and Fresh Water Committee. Walter North will Moderate.
