This rare, authentic presentation—different from later sound-era adaptations—will transport audiences back to the cinematic experience of the early 1920s. The silent horror classic, directed by Rupert Julian and starring Lon Chaney as the deformed Phantom of the Paris Opera House, remains legendary for Chaney’s self-devised makeup and the haunting atmosphere it evokes.
Adding to the magic of the night, the screening will feature live musical accompaniment by Dinah Mellin, Ken Field, and Bill Cannon, bringing modern creativity to the experience.
This event is free to attend, with a suggested donation to support WOMR during the off season. Feel free to bring snacks to share, and join the community for an unforgettable evening of film and music.
