Line Chef – Job Description

We are looking for a skilled, reliable, and fast-paced Line Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate has strong cooking skills, thrives under pressure, and takes pride in delivering high-quality dishes consistently and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portioning, and presentation standards
  • Set up and stock assigned cooking stations with all necessary supplies before service
  • Maintain speed, accuracy, and quality during high-volume service periods
  • Follow instructions from the Head Chef
  • Ensure food is prepared safely and meets food safety and sanitation standards
  • Properly store, label, and rotate ingredients (FIFO method)
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation throughout the shift
  • Assist with prep work as needed (chopping, portioning, marinating, etc.)
  • Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service
  • Clean and break down station at the end of service

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a line cook or similar kitchen role preferred
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a high-pressure environment
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Team-oriented with good communication skills
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods (8–12 hour shifts)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40–50 lbs
  • Comfortable working in hot, fast-paced kitchen conditions
