Line Chef – Job Description
We are looking for a skilled, reliable, and fast-paced Line Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate has strong cooking skills, thrives under pressure, and takes pride in delivering high-quality dishes consistently and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portioning, and presentation standards
- Set up and stock assigned cooking stations with all necessary supplies before service
- Maintain speed, accuracy, and quality during high-volume service periods
- Follow instructions from the Head Chef
- Ensure food is prepared safely and meets food safety and sanitation standards
- Properly store, label, and rotate ingredients (FIFO method)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation throughout the shift
- Assist with prep work as needed (chopping, portioning, marinating, etc.)
- Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service
- Clean and break down station at the end of service
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a line cook or similar kitchen role preferred
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a high-pressure environment
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Team-oriented with good communication skills
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods (8–12 hour shifts)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40–50 lbs
- Comfortable working in hot, fast-paced kitchen conditions
